What SumLark is

SumLark is a free website with calculators and information about UK pay, tax and household costs. It is for general information. It is not financial, tax, legal or professional advice. Please read our Disclaimer.

Using the site

You may use the calculators and read the content for your own personal use, free of charge. You agree not to:

  • use the site in any way that is unlawful or that harms others
  • try to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to the site or its systems
  • copy the site at scale with automated tools (scraping), or copy our content to publish elsewhere, without our written permission
  • present our results as official figures from HMRC, Ofgem, GOV.UK or any other body

Accuracy

We build the calculators from official sources and test them, and we show the sources and the date each page was last updated. Rules, rates and thresholds change, and your own circumstances may differ from the assumptions we make. Results are estimates. We cannot promise that the site is always accurate, complete or up to date. Check anything important with the official body.

Our responsibility

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Subject to that, we are not responsible for any loss, including financial loss, that results from relying on a calculator, from errors or gaps in the information, or from the site being unavailable. You use the site and its results at your own risk and you are responsible for decisions you make. The site is provided “as it is”, without any promise that it will be available or free of errors.

Who owns the content

The design, text, code and brand of SumLark belong to us. Official information we reproduce or build on remains the property of its publishers; much of it is published under the Open Government Licence v3.0. You may link to our pages freely.

Your information

How we handle information is explained in our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

Changes to the site and these terms

We may change, suspend or remove any part of the site, and we may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. Using the site after a change means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. This does not take away any rights you have under consumer law where you live.
